nyx total control drop foundation review!

Cruelty-Free, Beauty, Beauty ReviewKristenComment

Hello hello hello! I hope your week has been going well so far. I’m heading into a busy couple of weeks, but it’s a fun busy, which is nice. Since I graduated in December, it hasn’t set in that the end of the school year is quickly approaching for everyone else, and all ~those~ activities are happening. Wild.

I am so excited for this review! I’ve reviewed a couple foundations in the past and I’m usually annoyed with them. I felt like any foundation I used had something wrong with it and I was just waiting for the bottle to run out. But then! I saw the NYX rack at Target and rubbed some of NYX’s Total Control Drop Foundation on my wrist and loved it. It blended into my skin so well.

This is definitely a new favorite product of mine. This foundation checks all of my boxes (again, sounding like a Bachelor contestant). It’s cruelty-free, smells amazing, blends so well, lasts all day, and looks great on my face. I use the Light Ivory shade.

I think the only bad thing I could say about it is that it runs out pretty quickly, but that could also be because I always squeeze too much out of the dropper. I’ve never used a drop foundation before, and it was definitely an adventure. I love it, but it wasn’t horrible, aside from me possibly wasting a lot of foundation and making a mess sometimes. My Spatty doesn’t fit in the bottle, which makes me sad. There’s not a lot of ways to stretch it along without shaking it and hitting it on your hand a lot.

Overall though, I’m a really big fan of this foundation, and I highly recommend it if you’re looking for something new. I’m not surprised, because everything I have from NYX is amazing. I just started using their primer, so I’ll have that review coming for you soon!

new york fashion week: amnesia by eva prokai

Fashion Show, StyleKristenComment

Hey babes! Back in February, I had the honor of attending a New York Fashion Week show! I had such an amazing time. The show, hosted by Nolcha Shows, took place in a very basic, minimalist event space. It was a very open floor plan, and everything was white and grey.

The people at the show definitely added the pizzaz. I wanted to go up to everyone and ask for their Instagrams! I actually did follow one boy who was wearing awesome makeup. People got super creative with their looks. It was like another fashion show in the audience! The sponsors at the show were really cool too. I first went to Night’s booth, where they had this awesome ball pit. Other sponsors included CitiBank and InstaSleep.

There were three designers at this show. First up was Amnesia by Eva Prokai, from Budapest, Hungary. They were an awesome opener to the show! One of the first pieces featured images of buildings in Hungary, and I was immediately intrigued. They used a lot of purple, pink, and blue in this collection, which I was a big fan of. The specific hues blended together really beautifully. Other pieces featured a black and red color palette, which I really loved too!

This collection featured a lot of outerwear, which I’m always a fan of. They had very interesting proportions; a lot of flared sleeves and oversized jackets. There was also a wide range of textures across the pieces: matching fuzzy gloves and tops, clear vinyl, and lots of shimmer and shine. One of my favorites was a mesh bodysuit with chains decorating the back.

Overall, there was a great mix of statement and subdued pieces across Amnesia’s collection. Every piece captivated me; I was never bored. While each piece stood out, the collection as a whole was cohesive and worked so well together. There was a great variety of pieces. I was also so impressed with how diverse the models were! I get excited when I see designers using models of many ethnicities. We love representation!

There were two more designers in the show, which I’ll be reviewing in posts coming soon. Follow me on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram to be sure you never miss a post from me! If you’d like to see videos from these shows, check out the “Runway” section of my Instagram Highlights!

pajamas, but make them bougie

slip (similar). flannel (from Eddie Bauer). boots. perfume. lipstick (in Sanctuary).

Happy Hump Day, my lovely readers! Here’s a look I’ve been holding onto for a while. Last semester, I went to a Met Gala pajama party. Yup, you read that right. The theme was essentially fancy loungewear. Since I was actually a huge fan of the look I went with, I wanted to share it with you all.

True to my style, I kept things pretty grungy. I got this slip to wear to my 20th birthday party, and wore my black tights because ya girl was freezing. My flannel kind of acted like a wrap. I loved the way it looked with the dress! I wore my black Timberlands and dark lipstick, then partied the night away.

I looooove theme parties! It’s so fun to get creative and go all out with your look. Obviously, I love to play dress-up. The birthday party that I wore this slip to originally was 1920s themed, and my apartment threw an awesome 1970s party last year. I showed up to a Paris-themed mixer dressed as a French fry to find that my Little had done the same! That’s some sorority magic in my opinion.

What’s the best theme party you’ve been to, and what did you wear? Let me know in the comments!

bite beauty's matte crème lip crayon (in glacé)

Cruelty-Free, Beauty, Beauty ReviewKristenComment

Hey cuties! I have another cruelty-free beauty review for you today. I got a birthday present from Sephora back in November (thanks, VIB rewards!) with a bunch of goodies from Bite Beauty. I’ve been wanting to give them a try since I wrote an article about them for a past internship, and learned about how cool they were. They’re a certified clean brand on Sephora’s website. Today, I’ll be reviewing Bite’s Matte Crème Lip Crayon in Glacé.

I’d never used a lip crayon this thin before, so I was a little nervous about giving this a try. I started by lining my lips, which I never do (I tried once and it was a fail), and continued coloring in my lips from the outside in, playing with the angles of the crayon a little bit. Because it was so fine, I could use as little or as much as I wanted, and touch up little areas. I had a lot of control, which I loved.

Hands down, my favorite thing about this lip crayon is the color. I did my nails a similar color when I took these photos, so I was thriving. I really love the way this color looks with my skin and features. I’ve been looking for a neutral-ish berry pink color like this for a while, so I’m really happy this was in my birthday present.

As much as I love this color, this formula does have its drawbacks. For starters, I don’t find it as hydrating as its description boasts, but I also haven’t tried it with my Agave Lip Balm yet, so stay tuned! The dryness made it difficult to reapply. Since my lips were a little too matte and dry, the crayon would sometimes snag or clump.

This is also supposed to be a long-lasting formula, and it definitely is, but I find that the color fades and changes into something more tan, and I have to reapply it more often to make sure the color remains the same. It dries out like a lip stain, which I really don’t like.

Though I’m hesitant to fully endorse this formula, I personally think the color and precision of the lip crayon are worth it over the dryness and fading. I definitely want to give more Bite Beauty products a try, like the Amuse Bouche Lipstick and Agave Lip Balm that were also in my birthday present. Stay tuned for more cruelty-free beauty reviews coming your way!

sweatshirt. leggings. boots. perfume. sunglasses (use my code CLUNKSTER25 for 25% off!).

Happy St. Patrick’s Day, loves! I hope everyone had a fun holiday weekend. I went to a couple parties and spent some time with some people I’m ~lucky~ to have in my life.

Speaking of things I’m grateful for, where would I be without my girl Halsey? If you haven’t already gathered from the amount I wear this sweatshirt, I’m a huge Halsey fan. She also happens to make amazing, comfy merchandise that I wear to death. I got some yucky stuff on this sweatshirt not too long ago, but I went to town with some stain remover and now she’s as good as new :’)

Another piece of clothing that I’m lucky to have is my fuzzy leggings, which I also post about way too much! I wore jeans for the first time in a while last week, and I was reminded of why I’m always in leggings. Jeans make me feel so restricted and uncomfortable, even if they do look cute! Now that the weather’s getting nicer, I’ll probably start transitioning into lighter leggings and my denim shorts. But these babies will always be a ride or die for me.

I topped off this look with my black Timbs, Killer Queen perfume, and Sunice Sunglasses. I’m so happy to be an ambassador for this awesome brand! If you’re planning on snagging these adorable sunnies, use my code CLUNKSTER25 for 25% off your order ;)

What pieces of clothing are you lucky to have? Let me know in the comments!
