thinking pink

my grandma’s nursing home has an incredible selfie mirror ;)

Let’s take a walk down memory lane, shall we? When I was about twelve years old, I was obsessed with the color pink. OBSESSED. I honestly can’t even tell you why. All I know is that I decked everything out in pink, pink, pink. I even had a pink-themed birthday party (which was the bomb, by the way).

Unfortunately, I think I pink-ed myself out after my tweens, and started wearing darker, more muted tones as I got older. No regrets there! Don’t get me wrong; I love a good pop of color. But head-to-toe pink just took it a bit too far (see photo for reference.)

i still love a good cross-body bag.

So I really surprised myself when I fell in love with this pink sweater last Black Friday. It’s super feminine and simple, and amazingly comfy. I usually wear it with leggings, but it also looks adorable with the black joggers that I’ve been obsessing over lately. I throw on my denim jacket and a cute matching scrunchie, and there we go! Twelve-year-old Kristen would be proud (and shocked at the lack of bangs).

have a gay day!

Hello, cutie patooties of all genders and sexualities! Happy last week of Pride Month! This year was the first time I attended a Gay Pride Parade, and I had SO much fun.

For the most part, I kept my outfit pretty basic. I wore my jean shorts and denim jacket (love a good Canadian tuxedo) with a basic black tank and Converse. I really went ham with my makeup! I’m bisexual, so I decorated my face with the colors of our flag. I used pink eyeshadow on my lids, lined my eyes with purple eyeshadow, and wore bright blue lipstick. I wore my hair in two half-up-half-down pigtails, which looked hella cute, but gave me a nasty scalp sunburn!

I know Pride is a time for us to run through the streets and be proud of who we are, but let’s not forget the people who fought to get us to where we are today, like Marsha P. Johnson and Sylvia Rivera, and the people whose lives have been taken because we haven’t come far enough yet. Go for it, hug your gay friends, but take some time to educate yourself on our history today.

Did you do anything fun for Pride? Let me know in the comments!

groovy tuesday

Brace yourselves: I’m not wearing black leggings.

Don’t worry, I haven’t (completely) lost my mind, I’m just trying to switch things up a bit! I’m always on here complaining about things I have that I love but never wear, so I decided to actually do something about that and wear these adorable funky pants that an ex got me as a birthday present. I may have bad taste in boys, but they have great taste in presents!

Usually I wear these leggings with a black crop top, but this time I wore a bodysuit, and I really loved the way it looked. I’ve actually never worn these pants with black boots before either, so I was really pleasantly surprised.

I topped this look off with my new denim jacket, which I’ve been absolutely obsessed with since I got it. I’ll spare you the details and profess my love for it in another post.

And last but not least, I wore my round Sunice sunglasses that I’m also obsessed with. I thought I lost them the other day and almost cried.

Hopefully, you’ll be seeing a lot more patterned pants around here. Where do you buy funky pants? Let me know in the comments!
