Glossier's Cloud Paint

I have a very weird relationship with blush. I used to wear it a lot when I was a dancer, but I never fully understood what it did, other than help your face stand out on stage. I didn’t think it was something I needed to wear every day.

One night a few years ago, I mentioned to one of my makeup-savvy sorority sisters that I felt like I needed to redo my makeup before we went out, and she told me that I just needed a little blush to brighten up my face. She put some on me and it made so much of a difference. So, I bought some e.l.f. blush (which was one of my very first reviews on The Clunkster :’) ) and an angled brush to apply it. But I still never had much luck with it. I always felt like I looked like a clown.

I stopped wearing blush for a bit, but felt so washed out. I have very high, prominent cheekbones, so blush really does make a difference for me. But no matter what I did, I always ended up putting on too much or too little.

Then, I took a trip to the Glossier HQ in Manhattan and started playing with some of the Cloud Paint they had on display (this was pre-Corona). I really liked how it made my cheeks look lightly kissed by color, and how easy it was to apply. So, I bought a tube of Cloud Paint in Puff.

If you’re unfamiliar with Cloud Paint, it’s basically a tube of blush color, like, well, paint. You squeeze a bit out of the tube and lightly dab it on your cheeks. It gives me a lot more control over how much I’m applying. If I pick up too much, I can just wipe it off. Even if I end up putting too much on my face, I’m usually able to fix it with a tissue. Regardless, I usually swipe my cheeks with a clean blush brush to blend it just a bit more naturally.

The shade that I bought, Puff, is perfect for me. Since it’s summer and I’m wearing a lot less makeup, I’ll sometimes put on just a little bit of Cloud Paint on my cheeks and nose for a sunkissed look. It lasts throughout the day, and I don’t look like a clown!

Cloud Paint has quickly become one of my ride-or-die products, like Boy Brow and Milky Jelly. Trust me when I say that it’s worth the hype.

earrings from SweetCreatureShoppe

My amazing perfect wonderful beautiful talented cousin just started an Etsy shop! This is a HUGE deal, guys. She’s been wearing the sickest handmade earrings to family events for years and finally decided to start selling them. All her designs are so unique and kitschy. I bought two pairs (so far): a pair of mismatched purple gems, and the cutest Barbie shoe earrings in the world!

I’ve literally always been a Barbie girl. And a Bratz girl. And a Polly Pocket girl. And an American Girl girl (I just really like dolls, okay?). So I decided to create a hot pink look to go with these hot pink earrings, and I love the way it turned out!

I used white liquid eyeliner by Danessa Myricks Beauty as a base, then colored it in with a hot pink shade from James Charles’ Morphe palette (both things that I’ll be reviewing soon!). To match, I wore some hot pink lipgloss by Almay. I felt like a literal Barbie, and I loved every second of it. I was about to cry while taking this makeup off before I went to bed.

So, if you’re in the market for some new earrings (or even if you’re not), check out SweetCreatureShoppe on Etsy! And check out my other cousin’s shop on Instagram, the Thrift Gift Shoppe! She just made some tie-dye and bleach masks and I’m obsessed. My cousins are just kicking ass, and I am so here for it.

Princess Di Vibes

Outfit of the Day, StyleKristenComment

If you’re like me and have been spending an absurd amount of time on Instagram lately, you’ve most likely seen the myriad of posts about Princess Diana’s bike shorts and sweatshirt looks. Bike shorts have been becoming trendy for a while now, but I couldn’t find a pair I actually liked until recently. Now, I practically live in them.

So when my dad got me this sweatshirt, I knew I’d be wearing it with my bike shorts allllll the time. It’s been one of my favorite looks on cooler days (on hot days too. I’m literally always in sweatshirts).

This sweatshirt itself is an all-time favorite too. It’s ridiculously comfortable and pays homage to one of the greatest rock and roll venues ever. It’s also an awesome design. You all know how I feel about graphic tees, but I’ll make an exception for cool ones like this.

The moral of the story is, it’s super easy to look like Princess Diana, and it’s even more badass when you’re wearing a metal shirt.

my grandma’s nursing home has an incredible selfie mirror ;)

Let’s take a walk down memory lane, shall we? When I was about twelve years old, I was obsessed with the color pink. OBSESSED. I honestly can’t even tell you why. All I know is that I decked everything out in pink, pink, pink. I even had a pink-themed birthday party (which was the bomb, by the way).

Unfortunately, I think I pink-ed myself out after my tweens, and started wearing darker, more muted tones as I got older. No regrets there! Don’t get me wrong; I love a good pop of color. But head-to-toe pink just took it a bit too far (see photo for reference.)

i still love a good cross-body bag.

So I really surprised myself when I fell in love with this pink sweater last Black Friday. It’s super feminine and simple, and amazingly comfy. I usually wear it with leggings, but it also looks adorable with the black joggers that I’ve been obsessing over lately. I throw on my denim jacket and a cute matching scrunchie, and there we go! Twelve-year-old Kristen would be proud (and shocked at the lack of bangs).

Hello, my friends! I hope you all had a lovely heat wave this weekend. I spent it in the air conditioning eating popcorn and cleaning my apartment. Something about physically cleaning my surroundings always puts me in a better state of mind. I’ve also been in “throw everything away” mode from moving houses, so I’m riding that high for as long as I can.

Today, I wanted to share one of my favorite pairs of shorts with you all. They’re insanely comfortable, not too short, and so versatile. I like to wear them to barbecues and other social events during the summer. Cloth shorts like this and paper bag shorts have been really trendy lately. I need to get my hands on some more pairs, and I’ve been wanting to try bike shorts too!

Usually, I wear a black top with these. I wore a black bodysuit with them the other day and it looked adorable. The first is a hand-me-down crop top from my cousins that I absolutely love. The cutouts make it so unique and flirty. I love the shape with the shorts. The second is the $5 top I got at Zara that I shared a couple days ago! Right after I posted that look, I realized I lost that shirt :( Please pray that we’re reunited soon! Words can’t describe how passionate I am about this top, to be honest.

Anyway, I chose to wear my gold flip flops with number one (I feel like I’m on Let’s Make a Deal), and my black Converse with look number two. I also paired the looks with different Sunice sunglasses and Katy Perry Fragrances

Where do you shop for shorts? Let me know in the comments!
